Develop the students’ comparison ability between two languages. Enable the students to understand the basic background of the text. Get the students to predict what we’ll learn next period and prepare for it. Important & difficult point: Compare British English and American English in some aspects like basic knowledge in English, spelling, pronunciation and vocabulary. Teaching methods: comparison approach; asking and answering activity; pair or group work. Teaching aids: Multimedia facilities --a projecter; pictures. Concrete teaching procedures: Step1: Lead-in. Shortly after a student’s three-minute daily report (Write the topic: Unit 2 English around the world on the blackboard), I begin the lesson with the topic about Chinese before we come to talk about the English language.
