Position: posterior to the iris, anterior to the viterous, supported by zonular fiber. Structure: capsule , fiber ( nucleus + cortex) Character: It is a transparent body rich in elastic. It is an important refractive medias so it is transparent. When people become old, the lens nucleus become large and hard, the cortex become opaque, and the cataract occur. Because there is no blood vessel in lens, so the nourishment of the lens mainly come from aqueous humor. Function: refractive media, accommodation power. Then we will discuss the disorder of lens--- cataract. There are many types of classifaction. According to cause, it can be divided into age-related,traumatic,complicated …. The cataract is usually bilateral, with chronic onset. The cataract patient often have 7 symptoms: 　　1 is progressive blurred vision. It is the most prominent and important symptom of the cataract. It is more severe when the patient has nucleus cataract. 　　2 is contrast sensitivity change. The patient will have lower contrast sensitivity. 　　3 is the change of refractive index. Especially in nucleus cataract. Because when the refractive index is increase, the patient will get hypermetropia. 　　4 is monocular diplopia or polyopia. Lens fiber become opaque, and sometimes vesicles formation, it will change the refraction of the lens, and 　　cause diplopia or polyopia. 　　5 is dazzle. It is caused by that cataract can scatter the light which enter the eye. 　　6 is change of color sensation. The patient will be not sensitivity to blue and yellow light. 　　7 is defect of visual field. It is mainly because of the thickness of the cataract. Senile cataract is usually bilateral, but the onset maybe early or late. Its symptom is progressive blurred vision.
