Abstract: The 67. 31-m high / YingXian Wooden Towe 0 , located to the no thwest of Shanxi, China, was built in 1056 A .
D. The damage caused by violent ea thquakes and bomba dment, togethe with weakened mate ial and some components
(wooden columns) continuonslyt ilti y, have caused conce n about its safety. The st uctu al eliability app aisal lays the foun-
dation fo epai and einfo ument. With actual measu ement, the ho izontal and ve tical defo mations of the towe a e anal-
ysed, and the se iously damaged second floo is discussed in detail. The damages, bea ing capacities and eliability levels of
the towe membe s a e evaliated, and the damage dist ibution cha acte itics discussed. Based on a 1P10 scale dynamicmodel
test, a nonlinea calculating model is obtained. Enploying the conse vation of ene qy p iciple, the lasfo-plastic seismic e-
sponse of the towe is analyzed, seismic damage levels and pa ametes a e classified and calib ated, and the deg ees of damag-
