The Reflections About the Decline of the American Dream in The Great Gatsby 美国梦的衰败在《了不起的盖茨比》中的体现 Abstract: This thesis begins with the description about the author, the novel，the American dream and the social meaning of the novel, then analyzes main aspects that reflect the decline of the American dream in the 1920s. The purpose of this thesis is to help us have an overall and profound understanding about the real society in the Jazz Age in the 1920s, which deeply reveals the spiritual degeneration that was concealed by money and pleasure and the meditation on the disintegration of the American dream in an era of unprecedented prosperity and material excess.
