Methods: 210 female patients scheduled for gynecological laparoscopic surgery were randomly allocated to three groups: (1) HANS (n=70), active HANS stimulated bilateral Neiguan and Waiguan acupoints for 30min before and after surgery respectively and 1.5ml intravenous saline administered; (2) Droperidol (n=70), gave 1.5mg droperidol 15min before anesthesia induction and sham HANS stimulation (placement of electrodes without electro-acupoint stimulation); (3) Blank control (n=70), sham HANS stimulation and 1.5ml intravenous saline administered. General anesthetic regimen was standardized. Incidences and grades of the severity of PONV were recorded at time 24h and 48h after the surgery.
