As China and South Africa have so many similarities and differences in economic development, industrial structure and resource endowments and so on , resulting in complementarities in economic and trade fields. In recent years, China has gained rapid development in foreign trade in spite of the great impacts of financial crisis, and between 2008 and 2009 the export of China has already maintained a fairly high economic growth rate. In 2008, China ranked second in the world export trade and in 2009, it’s export increased beyond Germany to be the worlds largest exporter. In order to become a trading power, China must continue to explore and develop new market to improve trade competitiveness. Thus , this paper analysis the bilateral present trade between the two countries , focus on analysis of the bilateral complementarities in economic and trade fields ，point out the main problem between them and draw and give relevant conclusions and suggestions.
