Abstract
ThispurposeofthestudyistoassessifInternetAddictionamongsome
ofthecityjuniormiddleschoolstudentsinZhenjiangisrelatedtointernetuse
behavior,parentalrearingpatternsandpersonalityfactors.Fourhundredand
fifty-fivevalidsurveyswerecollectedfrom twoschoolsinZhenjiang
completedInternetUsageInventory,InternetAddictionTest(IAT)，Egma
MinnenavBardndosnauppforstran(EMBU)andSixteenPersonalityFactor
Qusetionnaire(16PF).TheresultsindicatedthatInternetAddictiondoesexist
amongsomeoftheciytjuniormiddleschoolstudents.Inparticular,43
studentswereidentifiedasinternetaddicts.Itwasfoundthatthestudents
livingwithonlyoneparentpredictedgreaterscoresonIATthanthosewith
bothparents.Andthestudentwhose-familyhastheconditiontocatchthe
internetisalsoeasilyaddicted.TheaddictgroupconsideredInternetBaras
theirmajoronlineway,andspentmoretimeonchatting,gamesande-mail
thannon-addicts.Theaddictgroupshowedasignificantrelationtonegative
parentalrearing patternssuch asrejection,punishment,interfere,
over-protection.Thisstudywasfoundthattherewassignificantdifference
existedinFactorO,Q3,Cof16PFbetweenIADandnon-IADgroup.The
