Premixedcombustionininertporousmediahassofarproventobeanadvanced combustiontechnologyinwhichpremixedfuelandairburnwithinaporousbed.The technologyhasmanyobviousadvantagesoverconventionalpremixedcombustionin whichthepremixedfuelandairbumasarfeeflamethatisstabilizedattheburner exitwithrespecttoreducedemissionsofcombustion-relatedpollutants,widerdomain offlammability,muchhigherthermalefficiencyandradiantheatoutputs,saving energy,uniform heatdistributionand soon.Reciprocating Superadiabatic CombustionofPremixedgasesinporousmedia(hereafter,referredtoasRSCP)isa completelynewporousburnertechnology.Withembeddeddevicesforperiodically switchingthedirectionofthepremixedgases,RSCPburnernotonlyhasthe advantagesofporousmediaburnerwithone-wayflow,butalsosomemoreattractive combustioncharacteristics.ThethesispresentsintensiveinvestigationonRSCPby theoreticalanalysis,numericalsimulationandexperimentmeasure.Themainworks areasfollowing: 1.Applyingtheprincipleoffluiddynamics,asetofgoverningtransportequations arederivedtodescribethereactingflowthroughaninertandisotropicporousmedia basedonvolumeaveragedhypothesisandpreviousresearchersinvestigation. Consideringlocalthermalnon-equilibriumbetweenthesolidandthegasphases,the equationscanbeuseddirectlyandeasilytodescribetheprocessofflowingand reactingofmixedgasesininertporousmediaindifferentconditions,especiallyto simulatepremixedcombustioninporousmedia. 2.TheworkingmechanismofRSCPcombustorisanalyzedandthefunctionsof theporousmediaandthedevicesforperiodicallyswitchingthedirectionoftheflow inRSCPsystemaredescribedindetail.Bymathematicalreasoning,atheoretical descriptionhowtheSuperadiabaticflamecomesintobeingisgiven.Theeffectof preheatenhancingontheflammabilitylimitofpremixedgasesisinvestigated.
