Abstract Objective: o investigate the effects of m atrine injection (M I) on expressions ofmRNAs and proteins of vascular endothelial grow th factor (VEGF) and CXC chem ok ine receptor 4( CXCR4) in gastric carcinom a SGC- 7901 cells. ethods: M ethyl th iazolyl tetrazolium assay(M ) w as used to exam ine the effects of M I on prolifera- tion of SGC - 7901 cells; Reverse transcription- polym erase chain reaction(R - PCR) , mi m unofluorescence and en- zym e- linked mi m unosorbent assay (ELISA ) were emp loyed to m easure the expressions of VEGF and CXCR4 mR- NAs and proteins of the cells respectively. Results: M I cou ld inhibit the proliferation of SGC- 7901 cells, w ith obvi- ous dose- dependent and tmi e- dependent effects;W ith the increasing concentration ofM I for 24h, the expressions of VEGF and CXCR4 mRNA s and proteins of SGC- 7901 cells reduced gradually, wh ich had statistical sign ificance compared w ith the control group(P 0. 05). Conclusion: M I can inhib it the expressions of gastric carcinom a vascu- lar endothelial grow th factor markedly, w hich m ay be one of itsm echan ism s in anti- angiogen ic ability.
