A new method and principle of liquid-phase atomic force microscope were presented, which contained a special detecting optical path design for the liquid-phase probe. A novel liquid-phase atomic force microscope system was developed. We observed a process of metal corrosion in liquid circumstance and obtained real-time images of the sample surface. Experiment results indicated that the liquid-phase atomic force microscope could avoid the effect of surface tension and vibration on AFM images, and could realize real-time scanning and in-situ observation. Furthermore, this AFM had reliable stability, high resolution and was not restricted by sample’s size and weight.
