Mesozoic high-Mg diorites in eastern North China craton: constraints on the mechanism of lithos heric thinning. Earth Science Frontiers , 2006, 13( 2) :120-129 Abstract: An igneous suite wit h pyroxene-diorite, monzodiorite and granodiorite association occurs in the w est- ern Shandong and Xu-Huai regions, in the eastern part of North China craton ( NCC) . SHRIM and LA-IC - MS zircon U- b dating indicate that the suite w as formed in t he early Cretaceous ( 130~ 132 Ma)1 These rocks # have a high MgO content ( 1146% ~ 91 76%) , high Mg values (0146~ 01 68) , and high Sr/ Y rat ios ( mostly ranging from 30 to 52, the highest being 410)1 These features are sim ilar t o adakitic rocks derived f rom partial 87 86 melting of a subducted oceanic slab1 How ever, their high initial Sr/ Sr (01 705 1~ 01 707 7) and low E ( t) Nd values (- 4143~ - 151 29) are inconsistent wit h an origin from slab melt ing and imply the involvement of crus- tal material in magma formation and evolution.
