In this way, he has begun his own_________ telephone service. 4、再听一遍音频，逐句跟读。 5、学生自己大声朗读。 三、精讲课文 1、Mr. James Scott has a garage in Silbury and now he has just bought another garage in Pinhurst. 前半句是一般现在时，后半句是现在完成时。 another = an other：泛指另一个（原有基础上的另一个）。 2、Pinhurst is only five miles from Silbury, but Mr. Scott cannot get a telephone for his new garage, so he has just bought twelve pigeons. 注意这个长句中三个连词的作用。 表达距离：①A is five miles (away) from B. ②The bank is about five minutes’ walk away. 这里的介词from作“距离…”讲，常与away连用。It’s far (away) from here. get...for... 为什么弄个什么东西来。例句：I can get an ice-cream for you. pigeon 鸽子。俗语：It’s not my pigeon. = It’s none of my business. 这不是我的过错Mr. Scott has sent a great many requests for spare parts and other urgent messages from one garage to the other. up to now = up till now = so far 到目前为止。常用于现在完成时。 a great many = a great number of +可数名词复数 举例：a great many people, a great number of cars a great amount of +不可数名词复数，举例：a great amount of money another：泛指另一个。I don’t like this shirt. Can you show me another? the other：特指两者中的另一个。I have two pencils. One is green, and the other is red. other：泛指，后常接名词复数。Some students like football and other students like basketball. others：泛指，其后不需接名
