Intermediate Python Tutorial Python is free software and is an easy to learn powerful programming language. It has efficient high-level data structures and a simple but effective approach to object-oriented programming. It is used for its readability and productivity. Course Objective This course is designed to give a basic understanding how to write simple programs using Python. Several intermediate classes also use matrixes, so we will cover how to do matrix algebra. Programming in Python Saving and Running the script Open IDLE(Python GUI), Click “File New Window”, then new window will appear. This is simply a text editor. A text file containing the commands is called a “script”. We can record commands in the script and run it in Python Shell. One of advantages of writing a script (compared to using interpreter) is reproducibility. For assignments, you will be required to submit a Python script. To save a script, click File Save to save the file. Make sure to save the file as a Python script (i.e. extension .py). If successfully saved, you will be able to run the script by hitting F5.
