(= so as to) She took a taxi in order that she might arrive there in time. (= so that) 3. make jokes about (拿……开玩笑) play a joke/trick on 捉弄…/开…的玩笑 4.除… 之外： except (不包括) ，except for: 表示“除……之外”, 它后面的宾语一般与句子里所涉及的内容并非同类事物或行为。 besides (包括)=including Eg: What other foreign language do you know besides English ? 注：beside: 在……的旁边 (= next to) 6. 1) The girl used to paly the piano on Sunday.(“used to do sth”, 表过去常常做某事) 2) My mother is used to getting up early. (“be used to doing sth”, 表习惯于) 3) This knife can be used for cutting bread / to cut bread.( “be used to do sth/ be used for doing sth”, 表被用来做某事) 5. 1) She succeeded in getting what she wanted.(v, “成功，完成”) 2) Both plans have been tried without success. (n., “成功，成就”) 3) Finally, he tries his best to become a successful lawyer. (adj., “成功的”) 四．语法学习—现在完成时　 1.结构：have/has +动词的过去分词 2.句子结构： ①肯定句：主语+ have/has+ 过去分词 ②否定句：主语+ have/has+ not+过去分词 ③疑问句：Have/Has +主语+过去分词 3.用法： ①表示在说话人说话之前发生过一次或多次的动作。常和never, ever, several times等连用。如：I’ve never been to Africa. ②. 表示某动作从过去开始，现在刚刚完成，对现在有一定的影响。常与just, already, yet, so far等词语连用。 如：He has just finished his new book.
