Abstract: P inus y unnanens is ischaracterized by heterozygosity, environmentalheterogeneity andgenefluidity, the
geneticdiversity of this species is extremely abundant from population and provenance levelto gene level, which
mi plies the enormous potential for genetic mi provement. Through reviewing the genetic mi provement of
P y unnanensis, it is summarized a sum of study results are achieved in both study and practice during the past40
years, still the genetic mi provementof this tree species is in the levelof seed production forest and the firstgenera-
tion seed orchard. Five aspectsof breeding strategiesofP y unnanens is wereproposed.
