As such, their contr ol requires constant adaptation and highly flexibility. The “Holonic”concept w as proposed in the late 19 60 s as the basis for m odeling highly flexible and dynamic system , and the holonic paradigm for manufactur ing system contr ol promises to handle these pr oblem successfully. Its ultimate aim is to develop architecture for highly distributed m anufactur ing systems, built fr om a m odular m ix of standar dized, autonom ous, co-oper ative and intelligent components. This paper gives an overview of the holonic ar chitectur e for m anufactur ing system s. F ir st, the concepts of holonic and its k ey elem ents, “holons”ar e intr oduced. Second, behaviors of constituted holons inside autom ated m ater ial handling system (AMH S) for an I C pack aging plant ar e investigated. And then, P etri N et models ar e adopted to descr ibe the behavior inside each holon and interactions among holons. Thir d, the holonic m odel for AMHS in an autom ated I C pack aging plant is constructed. F inally, som e concluding rem ark s ar e m ade to point out the problems for design of holonic model and the futur e w ork of applying the holonic model to develop contr ol softw are. K eywords: Holonic Manufacturing System, Petri N et, Automated Material Handling System. 摘要 未來之製造系統必需能具彈性去面對更多之變異，所以製造系統之控制方法及架 構也必需是彈性且能因應外界環境變動而能即時調整。全方位(holonic)之觀念始於 1960年代，至目前為止，許多研究均應用其觀念於動態與高度彈性之製造系統之建模 及分析，也均獲得不錯之成效。
