Abstract : The imestone fi er cement mortars w ith diff erent mixing proportions w ere immersed into different su f ate so utions
for one year, and their visua appearances, strength and minera composition w ere measured at interva s . The resu ts show
that the resistance of mortar to thaumasite form of su fate attack ( TSA ) increases w ith the reduction of water- cement ratio.
The re ative resistance to TSA of the cements is out ined be ow , from best to worst: su phoa uminate cement , su fate resisting
Port and cement , ordinary Port and cement . The resistance to TSA of mortar is remarkab y improved by the addition of si ica
fume or ground granu ated b astfurnace s ag ( ggbs) , and the better the resistance to TSA, the more the addition of ggbs is.
