A bstrac t: The wetland of Quanzhou Bay estuary is one of mi portantw etlands in Ch ina. However, at present its protection andman-
agement m eet a lot of problem s and d ifficu lties, such as inadequate law s and regu lations, protection and managem ent irregularities,
less effort on propagation and education of protection and reasonable utilization, shortage of protecting and constructing fund, and so
on. In order to solve these problem s and d ifficulties, the foundationw ork of protecting andm anagingm ust be conducted, state-level
natural preserved d istrict must be declared, wetland legislation m ust be speeded up, and the m anagem ent of occupying w etlands
must be enforced.
