The female student is telling her friend about her problem. She works as a volunteer at an elementary school. She is gonna take the children to school, but she doesn’t have a van. The male student suggests she could borrow a friend’s van and then ask someone to drive. 　　He also suggests she take a bus. She said she may think about that, but it’s a great challenge to take care of children on the bus. 　　I think the second idea serves her purpose better because she wouldn’t take the trouble asking two people for help. What she has to do is just to take care of the children. The professor states that children under 5 seem to understand addition. Then he goes on to explain that by giving an example. One doll was put on the table for the child to see and then hidden behind the screen. Another doll was taken out and also was put behind the screen. Then the child would assume that there were two dolls behind the screen. Actually the researchers have taken one doll away. When the screen was moved away, the child was very surprised to see only one.
