UNIT 11: Present tenses Aims This unit will help you to: ★Tell apart present simple from present continuous verb forms; ★ Use present tense verbal forms to talk about timeless events and ongoing events. 本单元学习目标： 辨别一般现在时与现在进行时的动词形式； 使用现在时谈论客观事实与正在进行的事件。 时态：是一种动词形式，它说明动作或状态发生的时间、延续及完成情况 一般现在时present simple tense: 用以表示经常发生或习惯性的动作，即描述不受时间限制的客观事实或普通真理。动词除主语为第三人称单数（he, she, it）外，都采用原形。 Examples: i. Ants are insects. ii. Cats drink milk. iii. Jane usually goes to school at seven in the morning. 现在进行时present continuous tense: 用来描述发生时间不长，且说话时正在持续进行的动作。 结构：主语＋to be＋动词-ing形式 i. The baby is crying. Ii. The plane is landing. 现在进行时只能使用表示动作而非状态的动词 I know Nora well. She is very tall and she looks like her father. 有时用来描述经常发生的事件：强调该事件或表达对此事件的不悦情绪，通常会使用诸如often或always之类的频度副词 She is always helping people.
