Combined with the underground passage project between south and north square of Changchun Station, which crosses the existing rail lines, platforms, postal passages and several underground pipes, taking the permissible unequal settlement of existing structures in the code as controlling object, the controlling norm is established for surface settlement due to tunnel construction by basic mathematic and mechanical analysis methods. The established norm has assured the safety and smoothness of construction and has been proved by the construction practice.
