Abstract: Based on the survey of 10 sheets of national excellent doctorial dissertations of Beijing University of Aero-
nautics and Astronautics, this paper analyzes the factors of their su ccess from the aspect of discipline construction, su-
pervisors, research proj ects, quality of postgraduates, and academic atmosphere Some suggestions are made in order
to improve the level of doctoral dissertations and the overall qu ality of doctoral programs
