How to Teach with Go for it! 山西省教育科学研究院 山西省教育厅教研室 平克虹 The Goal of Go for it! The goal of Go for it! is to make language learning motivating and successful through a step-by-step progression that builds confidence and leads to open-ended activities where students can actively relate learning to their personal lives. Go for it! Provides the following solutions to some of the challenges English language students face. Go for it! Provides step-by-step language support and clear models for learners to follow to help them gain the confidence and language needed to speak in class. The topics in Go for it! Relate to students’ lives. Activities encourage learners to contribute their own ideas and feelings and to be active in class. The learning goals of each unit are explicit. Go for it! Helps students to monitor their own learning. Go for it! Encourages learning by doing. Each unit provides numerous activities that develop oral communication to solve the problem that students can do well on homework and written tests, but they cant communicate well orally. Brief Introduction to the Unit Section A opens with a picture presenting the new function in a real-world setting; introduces key words and new expressions. Students complete various exercises singly, in pairs and in groups. on the second page (a grammar focus box) On the third page (an interactive game or activity) Section B Section B introduces new vocabulary while recycling the language presented in Section A. Activities in Section B also help students integrate the new target language with the language studied in earlier times. Section B ends with a self check section, which students can complete in class or as homework. How can I teach mixed-level classes?
