It receives all kinds of challenges and impugnation in that it pays more attention to synchronic research of language and ignores the diachronic one. The book Metaphor, Etymology, and Culture: A Corpusbased Exploration and Methodological Reflection employs the methods of Comparative Etymology and Comparative Cross Motivation to explore lexicalized emotion metaphors (LEMS) in English and Chinese, based on the parallel lexical metaphor database.
