Language points final final 是形容词，意思是“最后的”。如： The final game of the football will begin. 足球决赛将开始。 The final unit of the book is Unit18. 本书最后一单元是18单元。 carry on carry on意思是“经营、继续”。 carried on working hard 相当于carried on with the work hard 意思是 “ 继续努力工作”如： He told them to carry on the work. 他叫他们继续工作。 He carried on business for many years in HK. 他在香港经营商业多年。 be pleased with be pleased with意思是“对……高兴；对于……满意”。如： Im very pleased with what he has done. 我对他所做的一切非常满意。 Were quite pleased with your success. 我为你的成功十分高兴。 so and such so 后常接形容词或副词，意为“如此；这样”，而 such 后常接名词。 如： Dont look so happy! 不要如此喜形于色! 应注意 such修饰单数名词时 such 的位置： 定冠词a, an 通常放在such之后；而数词one则放在such之前。如： Such a dictionary is enough. 相当于One such dictionary is enough. 这样一本词典足够了。 形容词no 在句中须放在such 之前，且不能再用不定冠词。如： He has no such bike. 他没有这样的自行车。 such和其他的形容词修饰单数可数名词时，可以用so代替, 但不定冠词位置不同，用such时不定冠词紧跟其后；用so则后面跟形容词，然后才是不定冠词。如： You are such a nice student. 相当于You are so nice a student. 你是一个如此好的学生。 such和其他形容词修饰不可数名词或复数可数名词时，一般不用so来替代。如： such nice teachers这样好的老师，不能说so nice teachers； such good tea 这样好的茶，不能说so good tea。 但当形容词是many、much时则只能用so。如要用such，就只能将such放在many、much之后。即“many / much + such + 名词”与“so many / much + 名词”意思不同。前者意为“许多这样的……”，后者意为“这样多的……”。如： They have made so many planes. 他们制作了这么多的飞机。 They have made many such planes. 他们制作了许多这样的飞机。 *
