[Method] With the western minin city Jinchan as object, the pollution condition and characters of heavy metal in soil with different utilization ways were investi ated and they were evaluated by the method of enrichment coefficient and Nemero comprehensive index. [ Result] On thewhole, the pollution de ree of theheavy metal in the investi ated areawas Ni Co Cu Cd As. There was obvious difference on the comprehensive pollution de ree amon soils with 7 kinds of utilization types. The water area, reenbelt, industrial land, path and square land and residential land all reached toheavy pollution, and public facili ty land and municipal utility land belon ed to moderate pollution. The concn. of the heavy metal pollution in the investi ated area appeared as the fanwith the smeltin factory as the center. Thepollution de ree was related with weather condition, climate condition, pollution ways, city plannin layout and in dustrial production activities of the investi ated area.
