The analysis of the students’ situation Students of this stage are quick in thought and they are eager to show what they know and they have a certain ability to read . But they are lack of vocabulary to describe a city vividly and clearly. Ability aims Comprehend the dialogue not only by reading strategies like skimming and scanning, but also by finishing different tasks; Train the students’ speaking ability through individual and pair work Make a dialogue of introducing a city. Emotion aims Develop students‘ love with their hometown. Develop their awareness of cooperation. Part 3 Teaching key points Master the key words and sentences. Improve the reading ability and grasp the way of introducing a city. Part 4 Teaching difficult points Develop the ability of analyzing and processing information. Introduce a city using the target vocabulary and sentences. Part 5 Teaching methods Communicative Approach Encourage Students to talk activity in class, build up their confidence, construct relaxed atmosphere. Task-based language teaching Ask Students to accomplish tasks to solidify knowledge. Part 6 Teaching aids Multimedia,tape recorder and blackboard Part 7 Teaching procedures Step 2 Lead-in and pre-reading Task 1 Watch a video Ask students “Do you like travelling?” and collect answers. Then show a video to the students and guess ”Which city is it?” Lead in Xiamen and ask students to use one adjective word to describe this city. Design reason: Inspire students’ former knowledge about Xiamen, which draw their attention to the theme of the reading material and get them ready for the following reading. Task 2 Prediction Make a prediction, “What do you expect to know about Xiamen from the text?” and collect answers. Look through the dialogue and check their predictions.
