The Research of Motivation Practice for Knowledge Workers in Chinese High-tech Company 1. Introduction Simon and March (1958) proposed that motivate is an exploratory process of all kinds of formulated alternatives, making organizational numbers decide whether to participate in some work aiming at achieving organizational goals or not. Peter Drucker(1999), a master of management, who was the first to propose a conception of knowledge workers, deemed that knowledge workers produce not material products but knowledge and ideas. Therefore, the competition between enterprises, the knowledge creation, the use and the increment of knowledge and the reasonable disposition of the resources, all finally depend on the knowledge workers’ realization. The characters of knowledge workers can be summed up in one sentence: as a group of autonomy, individuation, variety and creativity pursuing staffs, they are driven by the force coming from the intrinsic reward system of the work itself. Knowledge workers as an important type of human capital is the enterprise’s core competitive power playing a significant role in business performance. Knowledge workers who occupy a large proportion in high-tech company, possessing the characters of high intelligence, high efficiency, high competition and high potential become the most important and typical members in the high-tech company. Therefore, it is of significance to study how to design a motivate mechanism for knowledge workers in high-tech company. 2. Literature review There are many kinds of definitions about knowledge workers in the academic world. According to the previous studies and theoretical framework, they can be brought under two main schools: one of them is represented by Peter Drucker(1999), who defined knowledge workers as someone who can master and apply symbol and conception, and make use of knowledge or information for work; another one is represented by the Canadian scholar Frances Horibe(1999), who put forward that
