Abstract : Earthquake input patt ern has become a principa focus in t he research on eart hquakeresist ance of engi
neering st ruct ures. For ongspan bridg es, t he more rationa met hod f or seism ic response ana ysis shou d be per
f ormed considering t he t rave ing wave ef fect. In t his paper, the methods of seismic response ana ysis for ong
span bridges considering t rave ing w ave effect are est ab ished , and t he seismic responses of a fourspans continu
ous rig idframed bridge is numerica y simu ated considering trave ing w ave effect and compared w ith the resu t
under t he coincident eart hquake ex citat ion, w hich present s direct instruction for engineering construction of t he
bridge.
