Earth Science Fr ontiers , 20 , 8( 4) : 2 9223 Abstract: Lots of ermian coal explorat ion has been done in the eastern margin of the Ordos Basin. Coal bed methane (CBM) explorat ion has been lasting for a long t ime w ith high exploration level. CBM pilots have got ten good achievements. The Fairway area in San Juan Basin has the highest CBM production called sweet spot. The different productivity appears in the different places of above mentioned area, w hich controlled by many factors. This paper discusses coal seam features, reservoir characteristics, and trap perf ormances in the sw eet spot of the eastern margin of t he Ordos Basin in detail to guide CBM exploitation in other areas in terms of similar geological condit ion.
