Phrasal Verbs "to wind down" 1) To relax after some excitement or stressful period e.g: I wind down after work by having a cup of tea. 2) for a machine/toy to slow down and finally stop e.g: My son’s wind up toy wound down so I had to wind it up again. 3) To gradually reduce the amount of work/business one does e.g: Our university winds down next week. Note: number 1 can be substituted with ‘unwind’. Idioms “midstream” To stop, pause in the middle of doing or saying something e.g: 1) The politician stopped in midstream, drank some water, then started talking again. 2) Bob often interrupts Rob in midstream . Bonus Idiom: “to have the Midas touch” To be very successful in making money e.g: 4 1) Did you hear about Beckham’s new 250 million dollar deal? Boy, I tell ya , that guy sure has the Midas touch. 2) Donald Trump is a man with the Midas touch. Extra Extra Idiom: “there’s method in someone’s madness” Ones behavior is actually logical and reasoned even though it appears strange and crazy. eg: I always read the paper backwards because I like the sports section best, so you see, there’s method in my madness. Email Bag / Grammar Blues Kuba asked about gradable and non gradable adjectives. Basically, grading adverbs (slightly, extremely, rather etc) can be used with gradable adjectives (big, popular, angry etc) to emphasize or deemphasize a particular quality of a thing or person. EG: The Bob and Rob Show is hugely popular  Non-gradable adjectives are generally used with adverbs that stress their absol
