It’s animal party time !! We look at how some animal words can be used in a very rude way indeed. Cover
your ears if you don’t want to learn about such offensive phrases. But seriously though, even though some of
the expressions we cover today are very crude, they are very educational since they can be heard in many
forms of pop culture. So, apologies in advance if you are offended by some of the things we say, but we
believe you will benefit from this show.
PHRASAL VERBS IDIOMS
“to rat on (someone / something)”
To give information to people in authority, usually in criminal cases e.g.: Did you hear the gang member ratted
on his boss to the police?
“to rat out (someone / something)”
This idiom has the same meaning as above e.g.: the bank robber ratted out his fellow villains.
“to rat on (something)” (British English)
To fail to keep a promise you have made e.g.: Politicians always seem to rat on their promises.
IDIOMS 1) snake in the grass
a person who pretends to be your friend but cannot be trusted e.g.:
I thought that he was my friend, but after he stole my girlfriend, I realized he was just a snake in the grass.
2) crazy as a loon
To be crazy or insane e.g.:
That old guy is as crazy as a loon.
BONUS IDIOM to go ape
To completely lose control and lose your temper because you got extremely angry about something e.g.:
The manager went ape when he found out the store had not been opened on time.
Here are some other slang animal definitions (all nouns) that Bob and Rob talked about:
An animal - cruel, barbaric, sexually potent.
A dog - an ugly woman.
A leech - exploits, takes but doesnt give.
A bat - old women.
A pig - dirty obscene, perverted, brutish.
A cock - penis.
A beaver - female genitalia.
An ass - stupid person.
A bear - large man.
A chicken / shrimp - cowardly, weak.
A horse - a well endowed man.
A whale - fa
