TRANSLATING INDESIGN CS2/CS3 FILES (INX) Trados TagEditor supports the translation of InDesign CS2/CS3 files which are exported directly from InDesign as InDesign Interchange Format (INX) files. INX InDesign Interchange Format INX is an XML-based exchange format file. The INX files are often smaller than the original InDesign INDD files as they do not contain graphics but rather references to the graphics. You will always be supplied with a reference PDF file to see the text for translation in layout and context. Trados versions INX files can be translated using Trados. Only Trados versions 7.2* and higher will support translation of INX files in Trados TagEditor. *Please NOTE: InDesign CS2-based INX files are optimized for translation in Trados TagEditor version 7.2 and higher (but NOT for version 8.0 and higher) InDesign CS3-based INX files are optimized for translation in Trados TagEditor version 8.0 and higher. We will provide you with the correct INX file for use with your Trados version. To make sure that you work with the correct INX file version for your Trados, we ask you to let us know what Trados version you currently work with. When accepting an INX translation job, please always sent a dialogue to the project manager stating your full Trados version number. Hot fix for Trados 8 If you use Trados version 8, please make sure you have installed the Hot Fix for Trados SDL 2007 – version 8.0 – with InDesign INX files as to be found on the LanguageWire platform (link will be displayed directly after login). Opening big INX files in Trados TagEditor If you experience problems opening very big INX files in Trados TagEditor, we can provide to you a plugin that will remove the file size restrictions in Trados. TAG Settings Trados TagEditor does NOT require any specific TAG settings for translation of INX files. Please make sure NOT to use any Tag settings
