The “Data Generator” is part of the “SDMX Reference Infrastructure” for dissemination environments, released by Eurostat within 2009. As such, it is a building block that can be re-used within any dissemination environment requiring its functionality. It is compliant with version 2.0 of the SDMX standard, which has been released on November of 2005 (see for more details on the SDMX v2.0 standard). This component offers the possibility parse an SDMX-ML Query (see “SDMX-ML: SCHEMA AND DOCUMENTATION” for details) and produce its in-memory representation. The .NET objects provided to the Data Generator in order to be written to a file exist in the SdmxMlModel library (also developed by Eurostat), which is actually a class model (in c sharp) representation of the SDMX v2.0 Information Model (“Section 02 Information Model: UML Conceptual Design”). Overview The Data Generator accepts a DataMessage object from the Information Model of the SdmxMlModel library, as well as a reference to a Stream representing the destination where the content will be written. Depending on the requested output format, the Data Generator invokes the appropriate Writer, which is capable of writing using that particular format.
