Show them some pictures about the new words in last period. Have the Ss. spell them chorally and individually. 2. Act out the dialogue. Step2 Preparation Step3 III: Scanning and Skimming 1.Task: Read the passage and answer the questions. Directions: 1. The teacher give the Ss 2 questions and ask the Ss to read the passage. What made Dr Norman Bethune a hero in China? How did Norman Bethune die? 2. Ss read the passage and find the answers individually. 3. Call back the answers from the whole class. His work with the Chinese soldiers. He cut his hand during an operation, but he did not stop to take care of his hand. 2. Task: Read the passage and put the events in the correct order in activity 4. Directions: 1. First make sure the Ss understand what they should do. Ss read the passage and do activity 4 on page 75 individually and check with a partner. 2. Call back the answers from the whole class, having one student read the sentences.
