To integrate 1D nanostructures into device 3 n 0 o 1 a 0. applications, it is of importance to align such nanostructures in a parallel, scalable, and highly n 1 i : h i reproducible manner independent of the specific materials. Well aligned 1D nanostructures might C o d f | exhibit superior properties that are not found in their disordered counterparts, allowing promising o g y r applications in diverse fields. This critical review summarizes the recent work in the alignment of g o o c. l s o r. polymeric, small molecule and inorganic 1D nanostructures, in particular, the advantages and n h s b c u drawbacks of various aligning approaches.
