Journalof Wuhan University of Technology·Mater,SCLEd． Aug．2014 D0I l0．1007／sl1595．014—0988—2 EffectsofSted SlagPowderonW orkability andDurabilityofConcrete Guo Xiaolu ，SH Iltuisheng! ，W U Kaj2 fj．KeyLaboratoryofAdvancedCivilEngineeringMaterials(TonalUniversity)．MinistryofEducation．ron~iUniversity,Shanghai201804 China；2．EnvironmentalMaterialsInstitute,Shanghai201804,Chin Abstract：Theworkabilltyanddurabilityofatypeofsustainableconcretemadewithsteelslagpowder wereinvestigated．Thehydratedproductsofcementpastewithgroundgranulatedblastfurnaceslag(GGBFS) aloneorwithacombinedadmixtureofGGBFS—steelslagpowderwereinvestigatedbyX-raydiffiaction(XRD)． Furthermore．themechanism ofchemicallyactivatedsteelslagpowderwasalsostudied．Theexperimental resultsshowedthatwhensteelslagpowderwasaddedtoconcrete．theslumpsthroughthesametimewere 1ower．Theinitialandfinalsettingtimeswereslightlyretarded．Thedryshrinkageswerelower,andtheabrasion resistancewasbetter．Thechemicallyactivatedsteelslagpowdercouldimprovecompressivestrengths， resistancetochloridepemr eation andwaterpermeation，aswellascarbonizationresistance．XRD patterns indicatedthattheactivatorsenhancedhtefomrationofcalcium silicatehyrdate(C—S—H)gelandettringite(AFt)． Thisresearchcontributestosustainabledisposalofwastesandhashtepotentialtoprovideseveralimportant environmentalbenefits． Keywords：concrete；steelslagpowder；groundgranulatedblastfurnaceslag(GGBFS)；workability； durability 1Introduction China’sironandsteelfactories．Recycl
