001-Eurospace General If the intention is to apply this ECSS to any space vehicle, including launch vehicles, some of the points discussed in the ECSS differ from the approach presently followed in Ariane. For instance, the use of LEF for composites fatigue. The ECSS requires to use a LEF of 1.15 and a single design life, while Ariane rules consider LEF=1 and a factor four (4) on the design life.
Once formally issued, is this ECSS going to be the sole ‘source’ for fracture control requirements?. Differentiation between manned and unmanned applications may apply for batteries.
