Aspects of “Body Education” in Asia : A Case Study on Taiwan Junko Tsukamoto, Akira Shiraishi, Chiyo Tasato Abstract The purpose of the present study is to consider an ideal method of the body education based on a background of the culture. It would be particularly connected to cultivate body that can be applied to daily life, and it would be also connected to foster “zest for living” (IKIRUCHIKARA) which is one of major policies of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in Japan. Therefore in this paper, the body education in Asia is focused in order to find a characteristic of the original body education from the view of physical value and technique of body in East Asia. The paper is assigned a focus to Taiwan, and considered about the analysis of the curriculum of the university having the physical education teacher training course, “hometown education” “hometown physical education / folk physical education” as the Taiwan original action in order to take school physical education. In addition, the class practice of the body expression was executed at the university in Taiwan. An educational system of Taiwan consistently executes the curriculum of original of promulgated “the Grade 1~9 Integrated Coordinated Curriculum” and small and junior high school in 2000 exactly is in educational reform. It is urged by the request of an indicator of the ideal way of the teacher training and new teacher training system construction at the master university in such a flow.
