Wuxi 214028, China Abstract: Application of Python programming in the ABAQUS modeling is introduced. Python language is a powerful tool in the secondary development for ABAQUS. Various kinds of Python functions can be developed if required in the modeling, so that the generalized and parametric programming for the modeling can be achieved. In this way, one can run directly the Python source code for the whole pre-processing and post-processing, even in the batc h mode, instead of running the INP file one by one. In this paper, some Python functions developed by the author related to the General Contacts are introduced in detail. Function find_contacts() is used for general contacts searching and creating, and functions list_contacts(), swap_contact_tie(), swap_master_slave() are used for contacts listing, summary, checking, and modification, etc. Th ey are powerful and easy for use, and can be used to replace the General Contacts GUI operation in ABAQUS CAE in many modeling situations.
