The child was happy to let his imagination fly, but worried that he asked only silly questions that even a child could not understand. 2. The child believed that carp and human beings live in the same world but were separated by some barriers and the water’s surface. 3. The fish in the pond could not understand what had happened when one of their “scientists” disappeared from, and seconds later, reappeared in their universe. 4. When the fish “scientist” came to understand what had happened, he made other fish believe that he had “a truly amazing story.” BACK READING-WRITING LINK UNIT TWO 5. When the author grew up, he read many adventure stories and science fictions before he entered the Bermuda Triangle to explore an unseen world there. 6. The author wants to tell us in this article that children are very imaginative and like to read science fictions. 7. The author felt sorry that some scientists, for lack of imagination, only believed in the world that they could see, touch, or readily measure in the laboratory. 8. The author’s childhood imagination of the carp’s universe was developed into a real interest in the exploration of other dimensions, or parallel universes. 9. We can infer that the author gets most of his ideas about higher dimensional space from the discovery of hyperspace travel described in Isaac Asimov’s Foundation Series. 10. We can learn from this article that successful scientists are those who were very imaginative and curious in their childhood.
