We learn about the world through the five senses. We use them to study, work and relax. We have good senses. However, sometimes they can confuse us. Look at the four pictures in our books and answer each question below. 1. What can you see in the picture? A vase? Two faces? 2. Which line is longer, line x or line y? How would you find out whether the two lines are of the same length? 3. Are lines m and n straight? How can you prove that they are straight? 4. How do you read line b? 1.which square(方块) is bigger,the white one or the black one? 2. Which circle(圆) is bigger, the white one or the black one ? 3. Which circle is bigger, A or B? A B Are the poles circle or square? Can you see a lion in the picture? Is the woman in or out of the picture? Why are people misled by their own eyes? Because the background or other lines confuse the eyes. Also, what we expect to see can change what we see. It’s more the brain that is confused than the eyes. What about people who have lost one or two of their five senses? Blind: Deaf: Read by touching raised dots which represent numbers and words. The system is called Braille(盲文). Use body language or sign language(手语). Do you know any people who have made great achievements even if they have lost one of their senses? What did they achieve?
