To get students to say something about Steven Spielberg by their own words. Difficult points: How to make the students be active to express their own ideas. Teaching procedures: Step 1 Warming up 1. Show some posters of other famous movies at home and abroad and then tell the students to discuss them in groups. Teacher: What is happening in this scene? What happens before /after the scene? 2. Show some pictures of Jaws ,E.T., Jurassic Park, Schindler’s List and Saving Private Ryan Let students know that the movies are directed by Steven Spielberg who is a famous director in the world. Ask the students to guess the themes of them and what they are about. Step 2 Reading 1. Listening a. Listen to the tape, and try to find out the names of the five films directed by Spielberg. Jaws, E.T., Jurassic Park, Schindler’s List and Saving Private Ryan b. Listen to the tape again with books closed. After listening, find out what the five films are mainly about in the text. ET (1982): A young boy called Elliot who makes friends with a small creature from outer space and helps him to find a way to go home. Jurassic Park (1993): A park where a very rich man keeps different kinds of dinosaurs. When the park is hit by a storm, things started going wrong.
