Based on mathematic model of actual target system,the system of sonar target simulator can compute the emulational datas, and sent it to sonar equipments to help designers and maintainers of sonar system for performance test and simulation research of sonar system. The sonar target simulation described in this paper can simulate kinds of target echo signal in active mode, it can also simulate ship radiation noise and ocean environmental noise in passive mode. The array in this system is ULA(uniform linear array), the simulation target number is one. The level bearing measurement error is less than 3.5? The range error is less than 2.5%. Signal types include LFM and CW, the frequence range is between 4.6kHz and 6.4kHz, working period is between 0.5 secdonds to 12 seconds. This paper does a complete and detailed research about the software design and realization of sonar signal simulation. Firstly, the mathematical models of various signals used by the system are introduced, including emission signal model, target echo model, marine noise model, the ship radiation noise model, marine reverberation model. All of the models are verified through the simulation by MATLAB. Then, the main function and technical requirements of the system are put forward. The combination of functions and indicators, the research is done about the overall system design and function modules.And in accordance with the overall system design,the realization method of the system based on the LabWindows/CVI software is proposed,which includes two aspects in summary:the generation of the simulated signals and realization of interactive interface.
