However, it is obvious that nowadays in the process of intercultural communication teaching, the teaching and learning of the target language culture has gained too much attention while the learning of Chinese culture has almost been neglected. In order to improve the situation, several institutions of higher learning in China are involved in the process of English teaching reform which they are now beginning to add Chinese culture in students’ English learning process. Based on this background, the author chose sophomores from 4 different majors in Huazhong University of Science and Technology and asked them to finish a questionnaire and then randomly chose 10 students to answer 3 open-ended interview questions. Then the author collected the data and used SPSS 17.0 to carry out the analysis in order to know their motivation type, motivational intensity and attitude towards the learning of this course the relationships among these 3 factors.
