It describes the miserable life of an orphan and exposes many social problems at that time. It shows us those who live at the bottom of the society. The Review of Critical Realism In mid and late 19th century appeared a new literary trend—critical realism because the Industrial Revolution had intensified the contradictions between the capitalist system and the proletariat.
