It is a comprehensive reflection of English language ability and quality. Listening teaching in rural secondary schools has been a weak link in English teaching, and listening has become a bottleneck restricting rural students learning English. On the basis of analysis on the current of listening teaching , this paper states that the keys to improve their English listening teaching effectiveness as following points: relating to the teaching situation in rural areas, to strengthen the training of basic input, to select the appropriate materials, to develop students listening ability and examination skills step by step, to develop students listening interest, and to strengthen the listening teaching in English class . As a result, the listening strategies will enable students to enjoy English listening to know listening skills, and to develop good listening habits.
