Design with colour 1 DAAE2005 Assignment 2 By Ying Liu SID: 309070872 Assignment 2 Introduction In the first assignment, we have see the partitive mixing of colour both in the window and the facade pictures. From that assignment, I have learned a lot of things about the effect of changing colours to the building or environment. In this assignment, we will think about the colour preference of choosing colours and how this colour preference effect interrelated with the contrast relationship in colour design. Therefore, use the knowledge which we have learned to create three pleasant schemes and three unpleasant schemes by changing the colour relationship between these object saturation and the colour of the overall of saturation, lightness contrast and the hue. Moreover, we need to look at the preference or the contrast effect both in the colour and colour combinations. More pure colour which have high saturation that will be more preferred. Also, the other thing we need to think is the colour and the size will be ues to the object and background. To explain, which colour will be use? How the saturation, lightness and hue will effect the colour combination? How to decide the size of the object and the background?... Before I start this assignment, I think I need to explain the object and the background in this building facade picture. In this picture, the elements of “object” is the semicircular door frame, small squre window and the triangular door. These elements is all have the small size and we can use the lightness contrast relationships to make them appear advance or recede. On the other hand, the background elements I think is the metal facade, door and the base of the building, because these size and colour. The high saturation colour used in the small area and the desaturation colour used in the large area can have the pleasantness effect.
