In legend,the creature brings baskets filled with colored eggs,candy and toys to the homes of children on the night before Easter.The Easter bunny will either put the baskets in a designated place or hide them somewhere in the house for the children to find when they wake up in the morning. The Easter Egg In ancient times, the egg is a symbol of spring and the beginning of a new life. Later,Christians also give the egg a new meaning, a layer of religious meaning , that is a symbol of resurrection of Jesus out of the tomb. On Easter Sunday children wake up to find that the Easter Bunny has left them baskets of candy.He has also hidden the eggs that they decorated earlier that week.Children hunt for the eggs all around the house.Neighborhoods and organizations hoid Easter egg hunts,and the child who finds the most eggs wins a prize. Egg Rolling In 1880, the First Lady invited children to the White House for the Egg Rolling because officials had complianed that they were ruining the Capitol lawn. It has been held there ever since then,only canceled during times of war. The event has grown, and today Easter Monday is the only day of the year when tourists are allowed to wander over the White House lawn. The wife of the President sponsors it for the children of the entire country. The egg roll
