Period 3　Grammar ;一、限制性定语从句 请观察下列句子 ①The amber which was selected had a beautiful yellow-brown colour like honey. ②Later，Catherine II had the Amber Room moved to a palace outside St. Petersburg where she spent her summers. ③This was a time when the two countries were at war.;④Do you know the student whose name is Wang Ping? ⑤The doctor whom you are looking for is in the room. ⑥The two things about which Marx was not sure were the grammar and some of the idioms of English. 归纳总结：限制性定语从句与先行词的关系密切，是不可缺少的定语，如果去掉，主句的意思就不完整或失去意义。从句和主句关系十分密切，写时不用逗号分开，关系代词有时可以省略。引导限制性定语从句的关系代词有that，which，who，whom ，whose等，关系副词有when，where，why。; 二、非限制性定语从句 请观察下列句子 ①This gift was the Amber Room，which was given this name because several tons of amber were used to make it. ②However，the next King of Prussia，Frederick William I，to whom the Amber Room belonged，decided not to keep it. ③It was also a treasure decorated with gold and jewels，which took the countrys best artists about ten years to make. ; ④There is no doubt that the boxes were then put on a train for Konigsberg，which was at that time a German city on the Baltic Sea. ⑤I have two sisters，who are both doctors. ⑥Last Sunday，they reached Shanghai，where a meeting was to be held.; 归纳总结：非限制性定语从句和主句的关系不十分密切，只是对先行词作些附加说明，如果去掉，不会影响主句的明确或完整句意，主句和从句之间往往用逗号隔开。 非限制性定语从句不可使用关系代词that引导，但关系代词who，whom，whose，which，as，of whom，of which和关系副词when，where均可引导非限制性定语从句。关系代词作宾语时，不能省略。;三、非限制性定语从句引导词的选择 Ⅰ.关系代词的选择 1．非限制性定语从句的关系代词不能用that。指人时，如引导词作主语用who，作宾语用whom；指物时要用which。即使引导词作宾语也不能省略。 Mary，who is from Australia，is an old friend of mine.玛丽是我的老朋友，她来自澳大利亚。 The book，which our teacher bought yesterday，is very interesting. 我们老师昨天买的那本书很有意思。; 2．as和which的选择 (1)as和which 都可用来引导非限制性定语从句，来指代整个主句的内容。非限制性定语从句位于句末且as或which在从句中作主语、宾语或表语时，两者常可互换。 He failed in the exam，which/as was natural. 他考试没及格，这很自然。(作主语) He is an honest boy，which/as anybody can see. 任何人都能看得出来，他是个诚实的孩子。(作宾语) ; (2)如果非限制性定语从句位于主句之前或插在主句之中，只能用as。 As we have seen，oceans cover more than 70 percent of the earth. 我们已经看到，海洋占地
